It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was underway.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
