Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extra-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the previous finale between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete American average was 16.1M. The overall World Series average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
